Value-based health care
No person is the same. Value-driven care means providing care that meets the needs and wishes of the individual patient. Listening to patients and putting them first increases the value of the care delivered. Ferring wants to be visible in this.
That’s how it started more than 70 years ago.
No person is the same. Value-driven care means providing care that meets the needs and wishes of the individual patient. Listening to patients and putting them first increases the value of the care delivered. Ferring wants to be visible in this.
In addition to safe and effective medicine, Ferring wants to add value to the care process.
We do this through collaboration and by being well aware of the needs, interests and experiences of all involved. We opt for a personal approach and see it as our responsibility to take MDL care further. We provide demonstrable added value to the healthcare process through research, medicines and close collaboration with doctors.
An excellent example of value-driven care is the eHealth system ‘mijnIBDCoach’ development. We developed this tool in 2014 in close collaboration with MDL doctors, nurses and the patient association.
MijnIBDCoach promotes communication between doctor and patient, stimulates empowerment and reduces hospital visits and admissions.
The success of mijnIBDCoach is apparent from a publication in the renowned magazine ‘the Lancet’ and the nomination for the VBHC prize in 2017. Ferring has transferred the direction and responsibility to the mijnCoach foundation. After the transfer, myIBDcoach has now been implemented in 25 centres.

De opmars van gepersonaliseerde geneeskunde
From age to physical condition and family history: in healthcare, we increasingly try to base the treatment choice on personal characteristics than just the diagnosis. In the meantime, personalized medicine, or personalized medicine, has taken off enormously. For example, modern diagnostics make it possible to include a patient’s genetic, molecular and cellular characteristics in the choice of treatment. Also, within gastroenterology, there is an increasing effort to tailor-made treatments in the form of individualized treatments that take into account the differences between patients.
